You’re not in the wrong spot! Here it is! Everything I’ve been working on for the last few months is finished and I’m sharing it with you today!
But first, a little background on the business name change. (If you don’t like background, just skip to the end!) At the end of last year, I felt a tug to change the name of the jewelry shop I had opened. Banana Grove Designs was a name that made sense two years ago, but by the end of 2014, I was interested in finding something that would have a deeper meaning for me and for my customers. I prayed and prayed and prayed some more, and for months, I couldn’t figure out what the name should be. “Sel Rose” literally came to me while I was lying in bed at night, seconds away from falling asleep (my most creative time, unfortunately). After it came to mind, I felt strongly that it was an answer to prayer. I had wanted something with meaning, and Sel Rose has meaning…Let me explain:
First of all, those words are French which is of personal value to me. France is one of my favorite places, and using French words just seemed to suit the style and feel of the jewelry I make. But far beyond that, they mean, “pink salt.” I had been hunting for a name with the word “salt” in it, specifically to reference a verse that impacts me greatly, Matthew 5:13: “You are the salt of the earth…”
When you consider what that verse is saying, it’s essentially about God putting His people on the earth to bring flavor, preservation and value to it. My heart is to remind the people who follow God, specifically women, that they have a worthy role on earth, and that the Lord is using their individuality to bring flavor, preservation and value to the people whose lives they touch. Their uniqueness should not be hidden or despised, but embraced and utilized. God’s chosen women are the “pink salt” in their own worlds.
Sooo, that’s the heart behind the name Sel Rose. The jewelry within the shop is much the same as Banana Grove Designs, except I have filtered through a lot of the styles I played with over the last two years and kept the pieces that represent what I love to wear the most: minimalistic and feminine jewelry. Everything is still gold filled, sterling silver or brass. If it’s not, I let you know exactly what is in it because quality has always been one of my biggest things.
Sel Rose is launched and available for viewing. Click HERE to head over to the website…
