I thought it would be fun to share a few of my favorite things from 2017. I used a lot of products, watched a lot of movies and shows, and read a number of books, but these were the best ones.
–The Moonstone: This book was one that had been sitting on my shelf for at least a decade! I finally read it last year and loved it! Wilkie Collins was a contemporary of Charles Dickens and one of the first authors to write a “detective story.” If you like 19th century classics and/or mysteries, you’ll love this book!
–7 Habits of Highly Effective People: I have talked about this book so many times already! I learned so much from Mr. Covey about good habits for life and relationships, and you can read about what I learned here: 7 Lessons Learned from 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.
–Working Hands: Guys, we’ve been wasting our time with hand lotion. Someone at work told me about this stuff because I was using so much hand sanitizer that my hands were in rough shape. This works better than anything I have ever used to keep my hands moisturized and protected from dryness!
–Schmidt’s Deodorant: the BEST deodorant I have ever used! I started using this early in the year and still love it. It’s all-natural (yes, it’s the best I have ever used even in comparison to antiperspirants and deodorants containing aluminum) and it lasts all day. It comes in five or more scents!
–A Different World: I started watching this with my mom and sister. We laughed and we cried. I don’t think I have ever enjoyed a depiction of college life as much as I enjoyed this one. And I felt like I learned so much from this show about African American culture and history. (If you start watching Season 1 and hate it, know that it drastically changes in Season 2.)
–Foyle’s War: This is for all the anglophiles! I had vaguely heard of this show before last year, but had no idea what it was about. In case that describes you, it is about a British police detective solving crimes on the home front during World War II. I have seen few shows that compare to this, it is one of the most well-written and well-acted series ever. Detective Foyle is my new favorite crime-solver! (It looks like there is only one season, but there are actually 8. Each episode is like a movie, and there are only about 4 per season.)
